Nueces Bay Energy Center

The Nueces Bay Energy Center repowering project converted the existing Unit 7 steam plant from a Rankine cycle to a combined cycle configuration. The plant utilizes two GE 7FA combustion turbines--each with a nominal capacity of 173 MW--two heat recovery steam generators, and the existing steam turbine in a 2x1 arrangement. The existing GE ST was upgraded for the intended service.
Nueces Bay is located in Nueces County, Texas, near the City of Corpus Christi. The plant has approximately 67 acres of land on the north side of the Corpus Christi Ship Channel and is one of many industrial sites in the Port of Corpus Christi.
