Barney Davis Energy Center

The Barney Davis Energy Center repowering project converted the existing Unit 2 steam plant from a Rankine cycle to a combined cycle configuration. Barney Davis consists of two GE 7FA combustion turbines--each with a nominal capacity of 173 MW--two heat recovery steam generators, and the existing steam turbine in a 2x1 arrangement. The existing GE ST was upgraded for the intended service. Barney Davis Unit 1, a gas-fired boiler driving a Westinghouse ST with a nominal rating of 325 MW, continues to operate without substantial changes.
The Barney Davis Energy Center is located in Nueces County, Texas on the south side of the City of Corpus Christi. The plant has approximately 1,992 acres of land between the Laguna Madre and Oso Creek.
