NUECES BAY POWER PLANT

Nueces Bay Power Plant

Nueces Bay is located in Nueces County, Texas, near the City of Corpus Christi. The plant has approximately 67 acres of land on the north side of the Corpus Christi Ship Channel and is one of many industrial sites in the Port of Corpus Christi. The plant cooling water intake structures are located on land adjacent to the Ship Channel. This land is covered by a thirty-year franchise agreement with the Port of Corpus Christi granted in 2001.

Nueces Bay contains three natural gas -fired steam-generating units, which are presently mothballed. The units were placed in operation in 1949 (Unit 5 (30 MW) was rebuilt in 1983), 1965 (Unit 6 (161 MW)) and 1972 (Unit 7 (368 MW)), respectively.
